J.W. (Bill Wright founded the Associated Supply Company, Inc. (ASCO Equipment) in Lubbock, Texas in 1960 as a Towmotor lift truck dealership and U.S. Army surplus equipment store. Bill attended Lubbock High School, graduated from The University of Oklahoma with a degree in mechanical engineering, served with the Navy Seabees in the Philippines in World War II and then spent fifteen years as an engineer with Humble Oil and refining Company prior to returning to Lubbock to start Associated Supply Company, Inc.
He Started with the simple goal... recruit the best people available, sell the best equipment available, and above all, provide the best product support available!
In 1965 Caterpillar Tractor Company bought Towmotor, and Associated Supply Company, Inc. became a Caterpillar lift truck dealer. In 1969 Associated Supply Company, Inc. bought the Clark Michigan dealership for West Texas and New Mexico. Today, ASCO Equipment still represents the Caterpillar lift truck line as well as Mitsubishi, Crown and several others. Because of a Clark-Volvo joint venture and merger in 1985, ASCO became a Volvo Construction Equipment dealer. Through the years, many superior, high quality lines of equipment have added to ASCO's representation.
Bill's sons joined him in the company in 1973 and 1975. W.B. (Brax) Wright, in Lubbock, is the CEO and J.S. (Steve) Wright, in Amarillo, is the President of the company. The company has continued to greatly expand not only in equipment sales and service but also into equipment rental. Today, ASCO is the oldest material equipment and construction machinery dealership under continuous single-family ownership in West Texas. Bill, Brax, and Steve work with 125 other company members from seven locations in Lubbock, Amarillo, Odessa, Perryton, Midland, Clovis and Wichita Falls to form Team ASCO
